Hello Norwegian learners!

The past two blog posts has been about national parks and mountain hiking. Is this something you find interesting?

I am starting this discussion topic so we can share our best hiking tips, and learn from each other.

My best hiking tips is to download an offline map - even if you go into an area with no routes marked on the map, it can help you with direction. Use rivers, mountains etc. to find your whereabouts if you are lost.

Another tip is to wax your shoes a day in advance, to keep them waterproof longer. (And ofcourse to make sure you have proper hiking boots - if not, maybe you can borrow?)

What is your best hiking tips?

Best,

Hi,
I‘ve recently been to Preikestolen and from my experience I would recommend hiking in long clothes. This helps against getting totally toasted by the sun and on the mountaintop it’s usually a bit more windy & chilly so it keeps you warm. Added bonus: ticks have it harder to get you!
Also obviously pack enough water & drinks. I know Norwegians love their Kvikklunsj on trips (they even contain the ten hiking rules on the inside of the packaging) but I personally prefer something salty while hiking to get the electrolytes back into my body.
Have fun on your trip!
