Ahojte,

Have you ever heard of the Fujara? If not, let us introduce you to this magical traditional Slovak musical instrument. This extraordinary flute was inscribed on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008.

Picture this: you're strolling through the picturesque Slovak countryside, surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills. Suddenly, you hear a melodic sound echoing through the valleys. That's the Fujara at work!

In the video, you can see the talented Slovak flutist Veronika Vitazkova playing the Fujara.

The Fujara is a large, long shepherd's flute, often reaching over 1.5 meters in length. It typically has three finger holes and a smaller hole covered by the thumb on the opposite side, allowing for a wide range of notes to be played.

Today, you can hear the Fujara's haunting melodies at folk festivals and cultural events, or you can experience its mesmerizing sounds through videos.

How do you like the sounds of the Fujara? Would you like to hear it live?
