World Book and Copyright Day or the International Day of the Book has been celebrated since 1995. This day honors writers and readers alike and brings literature as a powerful storytelling medium to the forefront.
In 1998, the Day of Books and Roses tradition from Catalonia was also adopted in Estonia, so giving your friends a loved ones a book on this day is a special treat!
The last week of April is dedicated to many events and fairs related to the world of literature. The Prima Vista International Literary Festival fills the city center of Tartu. Book lovers can meet and discuss with literary figures, take part in fun games and challenges as well as enjoy reading under some cherry blossoms on the banks of the Emajõgi.
