Happy Labour Day!
Tomorrow, May 1st, is a free day in Romania, as Romanians across the country celebrate Labour Day with barbecues, picnics, and time spent in nature. Many take this opportunity to escape to the countryside or enjoy the opening of the seaside season at the Black Sea.
Here are some events happening in different parts of the country:
- Bucharest: at King Michael I Park (Herastru Park), people gather for live music, traditional food stalls, and lots of activities. In Izvor Park, you can have a taste of what the Romanian people traditionally eat on this day: mici (minced meat).
- Cluj-Napoca: There will be a concert featuring local bands in the Central Park.
- Constanta: Enjoy a day by the Black Sea with live music in front of the Casino.
- Iași: Visit the Palas Mall Garden for a cultural feast of arts and crafts workshops, folk dances, and local cuisine.
How are you spending tomorrow? I will be doing a barbeque and getting ready for the Easter holidays, as Friday and Monday are also free days!
I wish everyone a wonderful and restful Labour Day!
