In today’s exercise, we will describe our hometowns. I will talk about my hometown, Bucharest, in Romania, followed by its English translation. I invite you to either describe your hometown using a single word in Romanian, or 1-2 sentences in English :)
RO: M-am născut în București, un oraș al contrastelor. Clădirile vechi, impunătoare ale Bucureștiului sunt umbrite de clădiri noi, înalte, de sticla. Noul se contopește cu vechiul. Imi place orașul meu, dar părerile sunt împărțite: fie îl iubești, fie îl urăști. Îmi plac parcurile, cafenelele cool, teatrele, faptul ca mereu este ceva de făcut.
EN: I was born in Bucharest, a city of contrasts. The old, imposing buildings of Bucharest are overshadowed by new, tall, glass buildings. The new blends with the old. I love my city, but opinions are divided: you either love it or hate it. I like the parks, the cool cafes, the theaters, and the fact that there's always something to do.And now, it’s your turn!
