Hey, community!

You've probably spent some time already in Romania, and you hear some phrases everywhere. It's time to explain them! Here are 5 phrases that Romanian locals say all the time:

1. “Ce (mai) faci?” - "What are you doing?" or "How are you?"

This is a common greeting used to ask about someone’s well-being or current activities. However, Romanian people tend to use it quite a lot, sometimes instead of "hello".

2. “(Hai) noroc!” - "Cheers!"

You've probably heard this a lot already! Noroc! or Hai noroc! is used when toasting drinks with friends and family. "Noroc" also means "good luck".

3. “Hai!” - "Come on!" or "Let's go!"

This phrase is often used to encourage someone to hurry up.

4. “Nu-i nimic” - "It's nothing" or "No problem"

This is an encouraging phrase to say to someone when something is not a big deal or you are okay.

5. “Pe bune?” - "Really?" or "Are you serious?"

"Pe bune" is often used as an expression of surprise or disbelief. Example: Person 1: "He quit his job." Person 2: "Pe bune?!"

That's it for now! If you will use these phrases, you will not only enhance your communication skills in Romanian but also blend in more naturally with the locals.
