The best weekend trips from Bratislava!

Bratislava Slovak capital

If you live in Bratislava, and have a feeling you need to change the environment and perhaps spend some time in nature or just change the scenery around you, we have prepared some of the most interesting places for you to visit during the weekend!

  1. Take a boat to Danubiana gallery

For all the art enthusiasts, it is one of the most romantic modern art museums in Europe. Situated just 20 kilometers south from Bratislava, it is a great choice for combining art and nature with surrounding Danube river landscapes with fauna and flora.

  1. Malá Baňa

Hiking is a great way to clear your mind, and Mala Bana is an ideal place to enjoy a sunny day with just a 45 minute hike through the forest. You will find a big cross on top of it, together with a place to have a bonfire with your friend, should you feel like grilling some food.

  1. Lookout tower Veľká Homoľa

Another great possibility for a hike is a lookout tower Velka Homola, which takes approximately 1 hour. After reaching the top of the lookout tower, you can see the mountain range of Male Karpaty, Velka Fatra or even the Austrian Alps. This trip is a great choice if you are looking for adventure and want to explore the region around you in more detail at the same time.

  1. Korzo Zalesie

This place is definitely one of the most picturesque spots close to Bratislava. You can relax and stroll on the long wooden pier which stretches above the Danube river, take a moment and appreciate the peacefulness which this place offers. The best way to get there is by bike, or you can use the public transport (bus number 610) directly from Bratislava.

  1. Neziderske jazero

This beautiful lake is situated close to Slovak borders in Austria, and is perfect for the whole day trip by bus or car. Ideally you can set off at 9:00 from Bratislava and arrive back at 18:10 by direct public transport. You will find a lighthouse with a beautiful view, and many options for watersports such as paddling, windsurfing or kitesurfing. This region is also famous for its wineries, spa and wellness options and traditional dishes.

Whether you feel more adventurous or just want to have a relaxing day, there are plenty of choices you can make to connect with nature, or just escape the big city for a little bit of time :)
