Do You Know What Is The Latvian Summer Challenge?
You might have heard it on social media, you might have seen people do it, or you might have wondered why are people wearing dirty shirts. But let me explain. You probably already know that the Cold soup is Latvian's most famous summer dish. Unfortunately, the soup is made from the most hard-to-wash ingredients. The arch enemy of all people with white clothes - beetroot. And once you have sat in a hot office all day with your smart casual office clothes, during your lunch break your first thought is the Cold soup. A little distraction, a small shake of your hand, and your snow-white shirt will gain some beautiful pink stains.
So Latvians are preparing for the summer and are doing what we call The Could Soup Challenge! Wear your best white shirt or dress and try to eat the soup without spilling a drop. Some film it and post it on social media, and some just take pictures of the shirt after eating the soup. Anyway, it’s the modern-day bravery Latvians are displaying!
The amazing Latvian artist Krista Bitmete has drawn a proud Lavian after definitely failing this challenge but being happy anyway.
