I have two great announcements for you!

1. The Midsummer fest (a.k.a. Joninės)  is already this weekend, June 23th. 

2. Monday is an official day off in Lithuania. So everyone can enjoy the Midsummer fest the night before.

Joninės is a great chance for you to know Lithuanian folklore and beautiful traditions. Songs, bonfires, floral traditions - they all take part in this celebration.

I recommend visit Joninės celebration in the following places:

1. One of the most beautiful Joninės is being held in the very special place in Lithuania - Kernavė (about 20km from Vilnius). So this is my No.1 recommendation.

2. Rumšiškės, the outdoor folklore museum near Kaunas.

3. There also will be an event in Kaunas city center. More info here.

4. This year, Vilnius will be celebrating Joninės in Verkiai park on Friday, June 21. So if you have plans for Sunday, or can’t go outside of Vilnius, go to Verkiai park on Friday evening.
