Finding Your Danish Community Abroad

Hello Everyone!

Living abroad can be an exciting yet challenging experience, especially when it comes to staying connected with your cultural roots. One way to feel more at home is by finding a Danish community or group in your city. Whether it's a local Danish club, a language exchange group, or simply a few fellow Danes you've met along the way, connecting with others who share your language and culture can make a big difference.

Have you found a Danish community or group in your city? Share how you connect with other Danes or Danish speakers. Do you have regular meetups, participate in cultural events, or maybe just enjoy some hyggelige moments together?

A few ideas that came to mind for creating a more local community abroad can be seen below, but please feel free to add your own in the comment section below, or if you are shy, feel free to message me personally and we can discuss.

  1. Start with Social Media: Join or create Facebook groups, Meetup events, or other social media platforms dedicated to Danish expats or Danish language learners in your area.

  1. Language Classes and Exchanges: Enroll in or start Danish language classes or conversation groups. Libraries, community centers, and universities often offer these opportunities.

  1. Connect with Local Organizations: Reach out to local Scandinavian or European clubs and organizations. They often have members with an interest in Danish culture and can be a good resource for finding like-minded individuals.

I hope to hear your stories and tips on finding and building a Danish network abroad! Please join in the discussion, in the comment section below.

Have an amazing weekend!
