Dear community,
Let’s talk about swimming. I’m Latvia, whenever the sun brings us at least some heat, people love to head to the beach and dip into the water. In Latvia by swimmable beach, we don’t just mean the white sand on the coastline of the Baltic Sea, but basically, you can swim in any river, lake, or pond. But of course, you have to be cautious and evaluate your swimming skills. And if you are looked over by trained lifeguards on the official beaches, then of course you have to look after yourself if you choose to swim anywhere else. And do not misunderstand – of course, the city center near the port is still forbidden to swim, but you can find places also not heading out of the city to find a swimming place. In Riga, there are several official spots, where you can swim even in Daugava, like, Lucavsala and Vakarbuļļi.
