I came across some fascinating facts about Finland that may surprise you. Here they are. What do you think?

Finland's land levels rise faster than sea levels due to post-glacial uplift, increasing landmass by 0.5 inches per year. This unique phenomenon benefits a nation with 188,000 lakes.

How about a one hour golf ball flight. This one is my favorite as I am currently in Haparanda, Sweden! A golf ball hit from Sweden into Finland stays airborne for over an hour due to the Tornio Golf course spanning over two nations and two time zones. Players can hit the world's longest hole-in-one across the time zone line!

Finns are the world's biggest milk drinkers, consuming 34 gallons per person annually. Despite this, 17% of Finland's population cannot consume dairy, leading to a variety of lactose-free products in supermarkets.

Also, did you know that America's Tallest Monument, The Gateway Arch, weighing 17,246 tons and towering 630 feet, was designed by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen. Paying tribute to American heroes, it has drawn over 2.5 million visitors yearly since 1965.

Finnish speeding tickets and fines are from the top of the world as well. In Finland fines for traffic violations are income-based. Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia's director, paid a hefty 116,000 euros for speeding, showcasing the country's equality in penalties.

Our music copyright laws are pretty tight. For example Finnish taxi drivers cannot play music in their cars. Despite Finland's music-rich culture, drivers need to pay a small fee to rock on without legal issues.

Finally, there is a social media based conspiracy theory that Finland doesn't even exist! You might have seen an interview by a lady in social media, who claimed that Finland was created by the Japanese and Soviet Union to hide the sea that is actually in between Sweden and Russia. They wanted to keep their good fishing spots a secret!

Haha! Now what do you think? Having lived in Finland for a while, can you confirm whether the country exists or do you think it's just a crazy rumour?

Oh and, 3 million saunas. Did you know that?
