Ahoj, komunita!
Today, we join the global community in observing World Humanitarian Day, dedicated to those who selflessly work and strive to make the world a better place. This day is even more important in light of the events which have been taking place around the world in places where people are suffering and are urgently in need of aid from international humanitarian workers. However, it also serves as a call to action for all of us to be more compassionate, fair and just to people around us and the communities we live in.
Why does World Humanitarian Day matter?
WHD is a campaign from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which every year brings together partners which advocate for the well-being and dignity of people affected by the crisis, as well as for the safety and security of aid workers. However, each of us has the ability to contribute, whether it is through volunteering, raising awareness or helping people in need in our community or a place where we live.

How can you personally contribute?
Volunteer: Some of you are already volunteering through the European Solidarity Corps, and for the rest of you there are also many opportunities of volunteering (blog article about this topic coming soon), whether it is a help in community center, charity support or other volunteering activities of your choice.
Educate: Take time to get more information about this topic, its history and the impact it has on the ongoing crisis around the world.
Advocate: Even in case you can't personally participate in the volunteering activities, you can still use your knowledge and share information with others, speak up for those in need or participate in discussions which are related to this topic.
Let's continue to act with kindness and goodwill not just today, but everyday. By developing empathy and taking care of others, we can together create a better community and the world around us.
