Finland is known for its stunning lakes, archipelago and coastline, making it an excellent destination for beach lovers. In this blog article I have collected some of the most interesting beaches in Finland.

Northern Finland
Kalajoen Hiekkasärkät (translates to something like Kalajoki Sand Dunes) are known for their long sandy beaches and dune-like landscapes. The area also offers many activities, such as a water park and a golf course.

Nallikari, Oulu is located on the Gulf of Bothnia and is very popular in the summer. Nallikari has long sandy beaches, a campsite and many activities for children. The area has been developed extensively in the past few years.

Western Finland
Pori Yyteri Sand Beach, located on the same long coastline with the abovementioned beaches, is one of the most famous and longest beaches in Finland. It is also particularly known for its dune landscape. You can surf and engage in other water sports in Yyteri.

Southern Finland
Surprisingly, even Helsinki has many places to swim. For example, Hietaniemi. This is one of Helsinki's most popular beaches, known for its soft sand and excellent services. It is easily accessible from the city center and also offers beach volleyball courts.

Aurinkolahti in Helsinki is located in Vuosaari and offers a long sandy beach, beautiful scenery and good services, such as cafes and restaurants. Löyly is a slightly different swimming spot, known for its sauna and swimming opportunities in the sea. It is a popular place to relax after the sauna.

Turku has a large sand pit that you need to know how to get to, as you won't find it by accident. There was a brick factory in Jäkärlä a long time ago and sand was taken from the pit for the operation. The beach is officially known as Maarian Uimaranta and you have to go there by car.

Central Finland
Rauhaniemi in Tampere is a beach on Lake Näsijärvi that is popular both in summer and winter, when it is visited by ice swimming enthusiasts. Rauhaniemi also has saunas where you can jump straight into the lake.

Eastern Finland
Savonlinnas Sarkaniemi is particularly beautiful, as it is located on the shores of Lake Saimaa. The beach is very close to the center of Savonlinna and the historically significant Olavinlinna castle. The beach offers stunning views and good services.

Right in the center of Mikkeli there is a pond where you can see the tower of Mikkeli Cathedral. However, the pond is completely hidden from the hustle and bustle of the center and there is a small path leading to it hidden in the forest. The pond is like something straight out of a fairy tale.

The last moments to go swimming in the Finnish weather are here, so go now, float as your heart desires!
