United Nations Day, celebrated on 24 October, celebrates the start of the UN in 1945, when the UN Charter was approved by most of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council.

The United Nations is the only global organisation with the authority and influence it does. It gives many people hope for a better world and can help create the future we want. Today, it is more important than ever for all countries to unite and fulfil the promise of the United Nations.
UN Day is celebrated every year and provides a chance to highlight our shared goals and reaffirm the purposes and principles of the UN Charter that have guided us for 79 years.
