As Danças Tradicionais Portuguesas!

Olá a todos,  

Portugal pode ser um país pequeno, mas tem uma grande diversidade de costumes. Cada região tem vindo a desenvolver as suas próprias atividades e tradições. As danças populares são uma das expressões mais autênticas da cultura portuguesa acompanhado da música popular que traz energia a essas danças, sendo o acordeão o mais comun em quase todas as regiões. 

Agora que já têm uma pequena introdução do que vão ler hoje, vamos explorar juntos algumas das danças populares mais conhecidas de Portugal e conhecer as suas histórias. Preparem-se para a música animada, os trajes coloridos e nos ritmos portugueses!

  1. Corridinho  

O corridinho nasceu no início do século XX, a partir de uma dança de salão da Europa oriental trazida ao Algarve por Lorenzo Alvarez Garcia. O acordeão, que se popularizou no Algarve no final do século XIX, ajudou a complementar a dança. No corridinho, os pares ficam sempre juntos, formam uma roda com as raparigas no centro e os rapazes no exterior, movendo-se lateralmente, batendo os pés e girando no mesmo lugar antes de continuar a dançar para a direita.

 

 

  1. Vira 

O Vira é a dança tradicional mais conhecida no norte de Portugal onde os casais ficam em uma roda. Apesar de ser mais conhecida no norte do país, várias regiões têm a sua adaptação, como é o caso do “Vira da Nazaré”. Esta dança é utilizada em casamentos e outras ocasiões especiais. 

  1. Bailarico Saloio  

É uma dança popular especialmente conhecida em Torres Vedras, Caldas da Rainha, Malveira, Sintra e Mafra, onde é chamada de "dança saloia". Também é praticada no Alentejo, Ribatejo (onde se chama “bailharico”) e Algarve. É uma das mais típicas de Portugal, muito animada e cheia de ritmo.

 

 

  1. Fandango  

O Fandango é a dança típica mais conhecida no centro de Portugal, é caracterizada pelo uso de duas castanholas. É dançado em pares e normalmente os ritmos são mais tristes e calmos.

Traditional Portuguese Dances 

Hello everyone, 

Portugal may be a small country, but it has a great diversity of customs. Each region has developed its own activities and traditions. Folk dances are one of the most authentic expressions of Portuguese culture, accompanied by folk music that brings energy to these dances, with the accordion being the most common instrument in almost all regions. 

Now that you have a brief introduction to what you will read today, let’s explore together some of the most well-known folk dances in Portugal and learn their stories. Get ready for lively music, colourful costumes, and Portuguese rhythms!

  1. Corridinho 

The corridinho originated in the early 20th century from a ballroom dance in Eastern Europe, brought to the Algarve by Lorenzo Alvarez Garcia. The accordion, which became popular in the Algarve in the late 19th century, helped enhance the dance. In the corridinho, couples stay together, forming a circle with the girls in the centre and the boys on the outside, moving sideways, stamping their feet, and spinning in place before continuing to dance to the right.

 

 

  1. Vira 

The Vira is the most well-known traditional dance in northern Portugal, where couples form a circle. Although it is most famous in the north, several regions have their own adaptations, such as the "Vira da Nazaré." This dance is performed at weddings and other special occasions. 

  1. Bailarico Saloio 

It is a popular dance, particularly well-known in Torres Vedras, Caldas da Rainha, Malveira, Sintra, and Mafra, where it is called the "dança saloia." It is also performed in Alentejo, Ribatejo (where it is known as “bailharico”), and Algarve. It is one of the most typical dances of Portugal, very lively and full of rhythm.

The Fandango is the most well-known traditional dance in central Portugal, characterized by the use of two castanets. It is danced in pairs, and the rhythms are usually more melancholic and slower.
