Hey there all you Icelandic rockstars!
We all know that Iceland is an expensive destination but there are many things that can be done in order to not break the bank!
First of all you have to learn how to convert the Icelandic KR to your currency in order to understand how much you are actually spending. Then set a budget for the month, try to make it reasonable, that way you are more likely to stick to it.
Here are my best tips stick to a tight budget while living in Iceland:
1. Do grocery shopping in Bónus once a week.
Bónus is the most economic grocery shop in Iceland and when sticking to only going to the store once a week I save both time and money.
2. Use discounts or offers when eating out.
The Icelandic phone service companies offer discounts on their apps as well as the Icelandic banks. Make sure to download the apps to get access to the best offers!
My personal favourite is Dominos Tuesday offer, a large pizza with 3 toppings for 1.200 kr.
3. Look for free activities
There are a lot of free events going on in Iceland everyday where you will be able to meet new people and learn new things. Facebook event calander can be a great option to search for events that are happening near you.
What are your best tips for staying on budget while living in Iceland?
