Morning and Evening Words: The First Step in Learning Latvian 

At the beginning of language learning, it is very important to learn new words. Expanding your vocabulary will make it easier to express yourself over time. Therefore, this blog post is dedicated to two groups of words – morning words and evening words. These are frequently used words associated with daily routines – morning and evening. These words are not only useful but also easy to apply in everyday situations. In this article, we will explore some of the most used words and how to use them in sentences. 

Morning Words 

Morning is the beginning of a new day, and many words are connected to this time of the day. Start with these basic words:

  • Pamostos (wake up) – "Es pamostos septiņos no rīta." (I wake up at seven in the morning.) 

  • Celšanās (getting up) – "Celšanās agri no rīta man nav problēma." (Getting up early in the morning is not a problem for me.) 

  • Ģērbšanās (getting dressed) – "Pēc pamošanās es vienmēr ģērbjos ātri." (After waking up, I always dress quickly.) 

  • Duša (shower) – "Es dodos dušā, lai atmostos." (I take a shower to wake up.) 

  • Brokastis (breakfast) – "Es ēdu brokastis ar olām un maizi." (I eat breakfast with eggs and bread.) 

  • Modinātājs (alarm clock) – "Modinātājs mani pamodināja precīz septiņos." (The alarm clock woke me up exactly at seven.) 

  • Saule (sun) – "Saule spīd spoži jau no agra rīta." (The sun shines brightly early in the morning.) 

  • Kafija (coffee) – "Rīt no rīta es vienmēr dzeru kafiju." (Tomorrow morning, I will always drink coffee.) 


Evening Words 

Evening is the end of the day when we prepare for sleep and relaxation.

  • Eju gulēt (go to bed) – "Es eju gulēt plkst. desmitos." (I go to bed at ten o'clock.) 

  • Zobu mazgāšana (brushing teeth) – "Pirms gulētiešanas es vienmēr mazgāju zobus." (Before going to bed, I always brush my teeth.) 

  • Vanna (bath) – "Es vakarā uzņemu siltu vannu." (In the evening, I take a warm bath.) 

  • Vakariņas (dinner) – "Es gatavoju vakariņas kopā ar ģimeni." (I prepare dinner with my family.) 

  • Mēness (moon) – "Mēness spīd spoži debesīs." (The moon shines brightly in the sky.) 

  • Skatos filmu (watch a movie) – "Pirms gulētiešanas es skatos filmu." (Before going to bed, I watch a movie.) 

  • Pidžama (pajamas) – "Es uzvelku pidžamu pirms iešanas gulēt." (I put on my pajamas before going to bed.) 

  • Tēja (tea) – "Vakarā es dzeru kumelīšu tēju." (In the evening, I drink chamomile tea.) 

 

Morning and evening words are an excellent starting point for learning Latvian, as they are practical and frequently used in daily life. Regular practice, patience, and repetition will help you build a solid foundation in language learning and enable you to communicate about other everyday topics as well.
