Dear Community,

Now, that 2025 has officially started, it is time to set new and/or revise your learning goals, when it comes to learning Hungarian, to make sure you approach learning the language in an effective way, that works for you. But  as we all know, it is always easier to make resolutions, than keeping them, so to avoid falling into that trap, I would like to help you with making a realistic and effective strategy for learning the language and offer some tips for you:

Set Realistic Goals:

It is important to set realistic goals you know you can fit into your routine and actually achieve within a reasonable time frame.

Start with achievable targets, like: "Learn basic greetings" or "Complete the first module of an OLS course.

Use Our Resources:

Enroll in the OLS Hungarian courses for structured learning.

Follow this community for peer support and shared resources. Participate in the discussions, engage or start your own discussion topic, to practice the language with peers and your community manager, who's always here to help you:)

Build a Routine:

Commit to daily practice, even 15–30 minutes.

Schedule regular checkpoints, like completing an OLS unit every two weeks.

Stay Motivated:

Celebrate milestones: mastering greetings, ordering food, or completing an OLS assessment.

Immerse yourself in Hungarian culture: listen to folk music, watch Hungarian movies, or cook traditional dishes.

Overcome Challenges:

Break down complex grammar and vowel harmony into manageable lessons.

Incorporate learning into daily life: label household items in Hungarian or use flashcards during downtime.

Extra tip:

Practice with native speakers through language exchange events, during our speaking sessions, doing "My Hungarian Learning Journey" with me (see example here) or with engaging and starting discussions here in the forum! .

How about you, do you have any New Year's Resolution, regarding learnig Hungarian? Any tips, methods, strategies that worked for you with learning the language? Feel free to share in the comments, possibly in Hungarian and I will answer! :)
