Dear Community,

We are still in the "Farsang" period, that I wrote about in a previous discussion, so you might have heard and seen the expression "Torkos Csütörtök" a lot around the country these days, especially in restaurants."Torkos Csütörtök literally means "Gourmand Thursdays" (but torok means throat in Hungarian, the literal translation would be "throaty"; "torkos" means one, who likes eating and culinary experiences).

During farsang period people traditionally ate a lot, usually heave food as well. Then on the last Tuesday the festivities stop and feasting starts on Wednesday. The following Thursday though, the feasting was paused in order to finish the leftovers from the festivities. This day, Gourmand Thursday since then became a marketing opportunity for restaurants and for their customers to enjoy nice deals in gastronomy on this da around the country.

Did you hear about "Torkos Csütörtök" before? Have you ever tried it? Do you have any similar festivities this time of the year in your country? Feel free to share, I'm excited to hear your stories!
