Dear English community members,

As a student of the English language, I can imagine reading books or audiobooks is high on your list of enjoyable ways to practise your English. I'd love to hear about your experience with reading English (audio)books in this discussion topic.

Let's Discuss!
Do you have any favourite books you can recommend to fellow community members? Do you prefer 'reading' audiobooks or books? And I'm curious: what genre do you gravitate to? From personal experience, I know the genre of books (e.g. self-help, novels, etc) you gravitate to can be different for books and audiobooks!

Looking forward to hearing you thoughts!

Warm wishes from a bookworm,

I want to ask, if I first start reading in English, which type of books should I choose, or is there any great recommendation for beginners?
My favourite kind of book is rom-com (like the movie).
Looking forward to the recommendations! :)

Hi Nhat Quynh Dao Kha! What a great question :-) My recommendation for beginners would always be to start reading something you're interested in. And as you mention your favourite kind of book is similar to rom-con movies, I'd recommend finding something in the 'chick-lit' category. And if you're new to reading English, you could try 'teen/tween chick-lit' as that is often written in simpler language than similar books for adults.

Hope that helps! :-)

I love reading books.
I would like to recommend to you the book My Sweet Orange Tree - Novel by Jose Mauro De Vasconcelos. This book is very good and touching, I read somewhere on facebook good comments about it and decided to buy it. I really cried when reading this book.
