In our latest blog, we dive into the reasons why Slovak and Czech are so similar. These two languages share deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties, making them easy to understand for speakers of either language.
They have much in common, from vocabulary like auto (car) and kniha (book) to similar grammar structures. But there are also some key differences, such as pronunciation, with Slovak being "softer" and Czech featuring the unique "ř" sound.
Both languages have been influenced by neighboring cultures, yet they remain mutually intelligible. So, whether you're practicing Slovak or Czech during your Erasmus experience, you'll notice plenty of shared roots!
