Hello, community!
Tomorrow is March 8 – International Women’s Day, and in Bulgaria, this holiday is celebrated in a special way. You may have already noticed flower stalls filled with beautiful bouquets or advertisements reminding people of this day. But do you know exactly how Bulgarians celebrate it?
In Bulgaria, March 8 is not only a day to honour women as mothers but also a day to celebrate all women – colleagues and friends. It is common for men (and women also) to give flowers, small gifts, and say warm wishes. In schools and universities, female teachers often receive bouquets from students, and restaurants are filled with people celebrating the occasion.
Here’s a challenge for tomorrow:
- Look around on the streets – you’ll see many people carrying flowers.
- See if your Bulgarian friends mention the holiday.
- Would you give a flower to someone? Maybe a friend, a roommate, or a professor?
Share with us:
- How is March 8 celebrated in your country?
- Have you seen a similar tradition before?
- What stands out to you about the way Bulgarians celebrate this day?
I look forward to your thoughts!
