here comes another series of useful Czech verbs. This time we focus on outdoor activities.
We have amended the format of the examples and made you a simple test in which you can try to fill in the verbs in the correct form and then check the result below.

Czech Verbs - Outdoor Activities

  1. jít (to go - on foot, walk)

    • Example: Jdu do parku. (I am going to the park.)
    • Sentence: Kam ______ (jít) dnes odpoledne?
    • Sentence Translation: Where are you going this afternoon?

  2. jet (to go - by vehicle, ride)

    • Example: Jedeme na výlet. (We are going on a trip.)
    • Sentence: Každé léto my ______ (jet) na kolech kempovat k řece.
    • Sentence Translation: Every summer, we go camping by the river by bike.

  3. běhat (to run)

    • Example: Běhám každé ráno. (I run every morning.)
    • Sentence: V neděli ráno rádi ______ (běhat) v parku.
    • Sentence Translation: On Sunday mornings, we like to run in the park.

  4. plavat (to swim)

    • Example: Plavu v bazénu. (I am swimming in the pool.)
    • Sentence: Děti ______ (plavat) v bazénu celý den.
    • Sentence Translation: The children swim in the pool all day.

  5. lézt (to climb)

    • Example: Lezu na strom. (I am climbing a tree.)
    • Sentence: Můj kamarád ______ (lézt) po skalách velmi dobře.
    • Sentence Translation: My friend climbs rocks very well.

  6. sbírat (to collect, gather)

    • Example: Sbírám známky. (I collect stamps.)
    • Sentence: V létě často ______(sbírat) lesní plody, jako jsou borůvky a maliny.
    • Sentence Translation: In summer, we often pick/gather wild berries like blueberries and raspberries.

  7. houbařit (to go mushroom picking)

    • Example: Chodíme houbařit do lesa. (We go mushroom picking in the forest.)
    • Sentence: Na podzim mnoho lidí ______ (houbařit) v lese.
    • Sentence Translation: In the autumn, many people go mushroom picking in the forest.

  8. opékat (to roast over a fire)

    • Example: Opékáme maso. (We are roasting meat.)
    • Sentence: Večer budeme _____ (opékat) buřty na ohni.
    • Sentence Translation: In the evening, we will roast sausages over the fire.

  9. stanovat (to camp - in a tent)

    • Example: Stanujeme u jezera. (We are camping by the lake.)
    • Sentence: Minulý víkend jsme _____ (stanovat) u rybníka.
    • Sentence Translation: Last weekend, we camped by the pond.

  10. procházet se (to walk around, stroll)

  • Example: Procházím se městem. (I am walking around the city.)
  • Sentence: Rád ______ (procházet se) po starém městě.
  • Sentence Translation: I like to walk around the old town.
