Hey dear community,

Today is a happy and colorful day!

In North Macedonia, April 1st is more than just a day for pranks—it’s Aprilili, a lively and colorful masquerade celebration! On this day, children dress up in costumes of their favorite characters, from superheroes and fairies to animals and famous figures. Schools and city squares come alive with parades, laughter, and excitement as kids proudly show off their outfits.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! Another key part of Aprilili is playing jokes and tricks on friends, teachers, and family members. People love to tell shocking or unbelievable stories, only to reveal the prank by shouting “Aprilili!” to ease the tension and share a laugh. It’s a day of imagination, joy, and playful mischief!

Do you have a holiday similar to yours in your country? How do people celebrate April 1st where you live? Do people wear costumes, organize parades, or play pranks? What’s the funniest trick or joke you’ve heard on this day?

Share your traditions and stories with us! Let’s celebrate together!

And feel free to say a joke in Macedonian in the comments :)
