Hello Everyone

While Copenhagen and Aarhus often get all the attention, there’s a whole world to explore beyond the big cities. Denmark is full of charming small towns, peaceful countryside, windswept coastlines, and cozy island communities that make perfect weekend escapes.

Getting out of the city—even just for a day—can help you see a different side of Danish life. Whether you’ve biked through rolling farmland, visited a fishing village, or taken a ferry to a tiny island, these trips offer new experiences, language practice, and a deeper connection to Danish culture.

Have you taken a weekend trip somewhere special in Denmark?

  • What small town, coastal spot, or island surprised you in a good way?

  • Did you visit a kro (traditional inn), walk along the beach, or hike in nature?

  • What was different from city life?

  • Did you practice your Danish with locals?

Maybe you discovered a great bakery in Ærøskøbing, saw wild horses in Mols Bjerge, or spent a rainy afternoon at a cozy museum in Ribe. Whether your trip was spontaneous or carefully planned, I’d love to hear about it!

Bonus: If you have photos, ferry tips, or a favorite food from your trip—share that too!

Exploring Denmark doesn’t require a big budget or a car. Often, a train ride or a bike is all you need. So let’s inspire each other with your favorite hidden gems, peaceful places, or off-the-beaten-path towns worth visiting.

Where should fellow students go for their next weekend adventure?

I look forward to reading your responses!
