Hi Calvin,

Receiving unwanted emails can be very frustrating. We don't want any member of OLS to receive information they do not wish you have.

Part 1

Because I am not sure which steps you've already taken, I will provide the following options for you to try.

Option 1:

From your personal email inbox,  you can manage your forum preferences and/or unsubscribe by clicking on the links in the digest you receive in your email. Screenshot below:

2. Once you click "Change your forum digest preferences," you will be taken to the OLS platform where you can click "Unsubscribe from all forums." See screenshot.

3. To not receive any digests in your email, click the little pencil icon on right side of screen for each forum and select, "No digest."

If you've already done the above steps, please see below for option 2.

Option 2 - From within the OLS platform, you can unsubscribe with the following steps:

  1. Click your name in yellow bar on upper right side of screen.
  2. Click Profile
  3. On left side of screen, click Notifications.
  4. You will be shown a list with all the items to which you are subscribed indicated by a small check in a box.
  5. Uncheck the boxes you no longer wish to receive notifications from. For you, it would be forum posts and digests. But again, you can uncheck any boxes you wish.
Here is a screenshot of what you should see on your screen:

After unsubscribing, the system may take a while to update.

I hope the above steps help you to achieve your goal. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Part 2

Your message may be helpful for others who have been wondering the same thing, so thank you for sharing.

However, it's also a great opportunity to remind you of the Netiquette that all participants must adhere to while enrolled or using the OLS platform.

Perhaps your use of the word "useless" was not meant as an insult, but in the context that it has been used; it is considered rude and disrespectful according to the terms of our Netiquette agreement. I invite you to reflect on other ways you could still express your thoughts but in a manner in accordance with our guidelines.

As with all things technological, there are sometimes bugs in the system or simply procedures that aren't clear; so your frustration and annoyance at still receiving emails when you've already unsubscribed are completely understandable. However, we must still have & cultivate a courteous learning environment.

The community and tech team are here to assist you and any user with any obstacles. We do not want anyone to be unhappy with OLS which is why we frequently ask for user feedback, insights, ideas, etc. There are several options to share feedback: publicly in a forum, privately in a message to a community manager, or directly to the Help Center.

To other community members, how have you managed your notifications or kept your inbox uncluttered?

Thank you again for your message and wishing you a good day,
Iya
