Dansk mad og madlavning

In this activity, we’ll dive into the world of Danish food and cooking!
You’ll learn useful words for common ingredients and kitchen actions, and practice writing short sentences about food and meals. You’ll also explore some traditional Danish dishes and think about how they compare to the food from your own country.

1 ) Vocabulary Warm-up

Start by learning and practicing some key words! You can use an image collage or a word list with about 10–12 words.

Example vocabulary groups:

  • Ingredienser: æg, mel, mælk, løg, smør, rugbrød, kartofler, kød, fisk, ost
  • Køkkenverber: at skære, at koge, at bage, at stege, at blande, at spise
  • Måltider: morgenmad, frokost, aftensmad, dessert

Interactive idea :
Reply to this post with a short sentence using one or two new words.

Examples:

  • “Jeg kan godt lide rugbrød.”
  • “Jeg bager ofte kage.”

This helps everyone practice writing something short and personal — perfect even if you’re shy about posting!

2) “Lav en indkøbsliste!” (Make a Shopping List!)

Now it’s your turn to use the new words!
Choose one simple dish — it can be Danish or from your own country — and write a short shopping list in Danish.

Example prompt:

Du vil lave frikadeller. Hvad skal du købe?
Skriv din indkøbsliste!

Example:

  • hakket kød
  • løg
  • æg
  • mel
  • salt og peber

Please post your shopping list as a comment, and guess each other’s dishes!

  • “Er det kyllingesuppe?”

3 ) “I mit køkken” (In My Kitchen)

Write 2–3 short sentences about what you can make at home using simple verbs.

Examples:

Jeg kan lave kaffe og æg.
Jeg bager brød om søndagen.
Jeg spiser frokost med rugbrød og ost.

Optional:
Add a photo of a meal you’ve made or something typical from your kitchen!
This makes the activity more fun and helps build community among remote learners.

4 ) Culture Corner

Read a short text in easy Danish about Danish food habits:

Danskerne spiser meget rugbrød.
De spiser rugbrød til frokost med ost, æg eller sild.
Mange danskere drikker kaffe flere gange om dagen.
Til aftensmad spiser de ofte kartofler, kød og grøntsager.

Then answer a few simple questions:

  • Hvad spiser danskerne til frokost?
  • Kan du lide rugbrød?
  • Hvad spiser du til frokost i dit land?

I hope to see your answers in the reply sections of this discussion, or you can send them to me, your community manager, and we can go through your answers together.

Happy Tuesday!
