'An féidir liom éisteacht?' a d'fhiafraigh sí.
'Cinnte! Suigh síos,' arsa fear le feadóg ina lámh.
Thosaigh siad ag seinm reel gasta. Ansin, chan bean óg amhrán Gaeilge go hálainn. Bhí fonn ar Mháire rince a dhéanamh.
'Seo ceol na hÉireann,' ar sise léi féin. 'Tá sé iontach!'"
Translation: "It was Saturday night. Máire went into a small pub in Connemara. Musicians were sitting around a table, playing traditional music.
'May I listen?' she asked.
'Certainly! Sit down,' said a man with a tin whistle in his hand.
They started playing a fast reel. Then, a young woman sang a beautiful Irish song. Máire felt like dancing.
