How are you spending Christmas in Denmark?

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are well and staying warm as it is snowing and raining outside. This time of year often brings some sadness as the weather is not so great and the sunlight seems to have dissapeared from the world, so the Danes like to fill this time with as much "Hygge" as possible. This can be many things from staying inside decorating the tree, making paper hearts and baking the typical brown ginger cookies or going iceskating or visiting Tivoli to walk amongst the beautiful Christmas lights and music. There are many possibilities but I would like to hear from you!

If you happen to be in Denmark during this time, or have a curiosity. Please go and check out the new blog post about some favourites ways to celebrate Christmas in Denmark.

Let me and others know! What is your favourite activity leading up to Christmas? Have you experienced anything you would like to share with others on how they can celebrate the holidays in Denmark? If you need any suggestions on ways to get into the Christmas spirit, please don't be shy, and ask the group!

Hej Alison,
thank you first for introducing this new danish course!
I just understood last weekend that the mails I got from you are from OLS. That was a bit irritating, but now I have the course on my screen :) I will spend as long as possible the pre-Christmas period here in Copenhagen and return only on 23.12.22 to Germany.
I was able to experience many of the Christmas traditions, as we are actually a small family in the office. We decorated the Christmas tree together, drank homemade gløgg and celebrated the 01.12. with all friends and families together in the office. "Julefrokost" was a new experience and definitely something I would like to integrate into my Christmas traditions. Today there were gifts for all and what I do not want to forget are the Danish Christmas songs that we sing weekly all together. Something crooked, but always beautiful :) I wish you a merry christmas too !

greetings franka

Hej Franka!!

Amazing to hear that you have been enjoying the Danish Christmas activities. It is so nice to hear that the whole office celebrates together like a big family. Hopefully you can integrate the traditions you love such as "Julefrokost" in your Christmas traditions for years to come! Thank you for your lovely input and wishing you a very merry Christmas!
