Hi, friends!
The platform may’ve been down during Valentine’s Day, but that won’t stop us from talking about LOVE in the form of idioms!

By now you’ve had a chance to look at our newest announcement and our introduction to idioms. Let’s take a plunge into all things related to love, the heart, and the creative ways we express our sentiments in English.
1. Head over heels – You’re so in love the whole world feels upside down. This can be used for people or for things. Yes! You can even fall head over heels in love with shoes or a puppy. :D
2. I’ve only got eyes for you – to be so in love with your one special person, you’re not distracted by anyone else. This idiom is a very popular song too, do you know it?
3. Your heart skips a beat – Literally, your heart flutters at the thought of, or when in the presence of, someone you like A LOT.
4. To have a crush – Here’s where you might have a skipping & skedaddling heart. Your Crush! Lots of us have had crushes, right? You secretly like someone and you feel all giddy or nervous when they’re around but you try to hide it and act all cool and calm but really you’re screaming inside. Sometimes you might talk about a crush to everyone else EXCEPT the person you have a crush on! Crushes can be fun, dizzying experiences but you could also easily fall into a state of ‘unrequited love’ and that’s no fun. :/
5. A match made in heaven – two people are perfectly suited for each other…. And yes, here again, this is an idiom that can be used in other scenarios. Ex: When Michael Jordan joined The Chicago Bulls, it was a match made in heaven.
6. It’s all fun and games until someone Love-Bombs you. What’s that, you wonder? Well, love-bombing is when someone endlessly praises or compliments you to the point of discomfort. Consider love-bombers red flags and run for the hills!
7. Fall for someone – and why can’t that someone be you! :D Yes, to fall for someone is to begin to feel strong, loving feelings toward this person. So, yes, you can fall for or fall in love with someone or even with yourself. So, step-aside love-bombers! We know what true self-love feels like. :D
Oh boy! Well, this list could go on and on forever, couldn’t it? And it’s no surprise, really. Love is both universal and yet very personal, so it makes sense that we come up with a myriad of ways to express a feeling or state of being that feels so huge and sometimes nameless.
Now, what about you? Any swoon-worthy idioms or expressions you want to share?
