Happy International Women’s Day, women from all over the world!
On this special day, l want to name a few successful Romanian women who had a great impact to the world:
Ana Aslan - was a Romanian biologist and physician who is best known for her ground-breaking work on gerontology.
Nadia Comăneci - a Romanian former gymnast who achieved international fame at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. She became the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 in an Olympic gymnastics event, and went on to win three gold medals. Now she is one of the most well-known gymnasts' women in the world.
Elisa Leonida Zamfirescu - the first female engineer in Europe. She tried to attend Bridges and Roads University in Bucharest but was rejected because she was a female. She went to study in Germany at the Royal Technical Academy in Germany. She graduated and became the first female engineer in 1912.
Smaranda Braescu - the first female aviator to break the World Record in 1931 for female parachute jumping at 6,000 metres altitude.
