Learning about the history of a country and about the people who shaped it help us to better understand the wider country context. In this thread, we will bring you stories and portraits of people who played an important role in Slovak history on various levels.


Today, on International women’s day, we bring you a story of the woman whose work was very progressive at the time and if the circumstances were different, she would probably be known outside of Czechoslovakia. Her name is Alzbeta Gollnerova-Gwerkova and in late 1930s she compiled a handbook of democracy for women: Žena novej doby (A Woman of New Era)
