Module 1: Introduction
Welcome to this “Enabling the Twin Digital and Green Transition via Solid and IoT” training course. This training provides a context on the use and sharing of citizen generated data streams, how it can impact DG Environment’s mandate to protect the environment and how Solid technology can be demonstrated with a custom developed proof of concept.
Audience
This training course is mainly intended for two types of audience:
Solid implementers or computer science students who are interested in expanding their knowledge of Solid.
Policy makers and administration officials who want to learn about unlocking the value of personal data for societal, environmental and economic benefit.
Learning journey
Understand how citizen generated data streams can be leveraged in public context
Understand what’s in it for the citizen
Understand how the challenge of protecting participating EU citizens' privacy and right to consent can be tackled
Understand how SEMIC tackles semantic interoperability across the industrial sector and how it is applied to a proof-of-concept
Understand the technology behind the proof-of-concept enabling secure and transparent data sharing
Key Takeaways
This module investigates if it is possible to use data sourced in the battery of electric vehicles to improve the design of charging grid infrastructures, or to predict whether it is possible to repurpose the battery from the vehicle to other devices with the overall effect of reducing waste.
It introduces a proof-of-concept application to demonstrate that it is feasible to use personal data for the engineering processes of green transition projects, while at the same time guaranteeing data privacy, data sovereignty, semantic interoperability and compliance with EU legal framework.
