This 30-minute course introduces DCAT-AP, the EU application profile of the W3C Data Catalogue Vocabulary (DCAT), which is used to describe datasets and data services for data portals. You will learn why DCAT-AP matters for interoperability, recognise the core classes and properties (Catalogue, Dataset, Distribution, Data Service, Agent, Licence) and apply good practices to publish and validate compliant metadata.
Målgruppe
The course is designed for public sector and EU project staff who publish, manage or reuse data, for example, data owners, data stewards, metadata/catalogue managers, open data portal administrators, interoperability/semantic practitioners, solution architects, and service providers.
Læringsmål
The learner will:
- Understand what DCAT-AP is and how it supports interoperable data catalogues in Europe;
- Be able to identify the key DCAT-AP elements for datasets, distributions and data services;
- Be able to describe the main roles and reuse scenarios in a data catalogue
