The Operational Deployment Course (ODC) provides participants with essential knowledge and skills required to undertake international deployments under the UCPM. The ODC is the first operational deployment course with the objective to prepare EUCPT members, including Technical Experts and TAST key personnel, for international deployments by covering all phases of the mission cycle.

Target audience

  • EU Member States and UCPM Participating States’ civil protection/disaster management experts already trained and experienced at national level wishing to deploy internationally as part of an EUCPT
  • EU Member States and UCPM Participating States’ Technical Experts (optional)
  • DG ECHO staff (ERCC Liaison Officers)
  • TAST key personnel

Learning objectives

  • Understand the importance of team dynamics and team composition based on experience and strengths
  • Identify and develop information management products, such as a plan of action and a safety and security plan, including tailored information management solutions to address specific challenges in civil protection operations
  • Develop an EUCPT Office space based on the principles of the OSOCC Guidelines
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively coordinate and communicate during emergency response operations
  • Demonstrate ability to host a coordination meeting during a mission to support a well-coordinated and efficient response to emergencies
  • Demonstrate necessary knowledge, skills and mind-set to effectively manage logistical operations in emergency response
