Unlock language skills with content-based teaching
Course details
The adoption of the premises of the communicative language teaching approach and the requirements of competence-based curricula highlights that language learning is only possible if tasks are meaningful and contextualise and acknowledges that language learning occurs across the curriculum not only in the language class. Likewise, the inclusion of ICT-literacy and other 21st century skills as cross-curricular target and the need to use language to communicate is a must in all language classrooms today. In this context, language teachers are faced with the challenge of (a) organising language syllabi around non-linguistic contents, (b) incorporating teamwork, problem-solving and inquiry-based tasks in content-based teaching proposals, and (c) letting learning transcend the classrooms doors. The course aims at helping present and future eTwinner teachers come to the grips with this demand by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to start implementing (or improve already existing) content-based proposals in their classrooms.
The course is offered by the European School Education Platform. Visit our website for more information.
