Well-being is essential to creating safe, dynamic, and effective learning environments. Well-being is not an “add-on” that we might address if we have extra time. It is at the centre of a child’s ability to learn and a teacher’s capacity to provide high quality instruction spaces for teaching and learning. One of the best things we can do for ourselves, our teams, and our students is to understand exactly what we mean when we talk about well-being - drawing connections with learning, teaching, inclusion, and the school environment.
This 8-10 hour online course module focuses on promoting student and teacher well-being over two weeks. It begins by defining well-being and clarifying its meaning. The following learning modules explore both explicit and implicit approaches, providing strategies to teach well-being explicitly and incorporate it into everyday classroom and school practices.
A key highlight of this course is the significance of teacher well-being on student well-being, supported by research findings. Participants will delve into the documented impact of teacher well-being on the overall classroom atmosphere and student outcomes, recognizing the interconnectedness of the two.
The modules offer practical, hands-on activities that participants can implement to promote well-being in the classroom, the school, and the community.
