You don't have to apologize at all and you have not been irresponsible!! I will answer all of your questions and do my best to give you information that will help you. The reply will be in two parts.
Part 1
It's not your fault that you didn't see this discussion thread as the only way to be notified of forum threads is if you have replied to a discussion. Now that you have, you should get notifications anytime someone responds to this discussion.
Every day, an email with the Daily Digest is sent to your personal email account about what has happened in the English Community. If you’re not part of any forum discussions, the only item you would get in the Digest would be the Announcements. Have you received those emails?
Also, it is possible that the Daily Digest emails that are sent out daily did not go to your inbox in your personal email account, but instead to your SPAM folder. Nevertheless, don't worry. I have some tips that will help you to stay informed on all updates related to the OLS English community!
