World Smile Day 6 October 2023 ☺️

Once upon a time, long ago in the land of doodles and drawings, there was a guy named Harvey Ross Ball. He wasn't a superhero but just a regular graphic artist. Among his assignments for his clients,  he did something that made the whole world smile! Namely, he created the yellow, smiley icon that we still even use today under many occasions in our communication!

Harvey was born on July 10, 1921, and he loved to draw. His doodles were like little rays of sunshine on paper. One day, he created something special – a smiley face that was so happy it could brighten the gloomiest day.

Now, this wasn't just any smiley face. It was the smiley face. The kind that you see everywhere – on stickers, T-shirts, and even in text messages. It was like the Beyoncé of smiley faces, if you know what I mean.

But here's the twist – Harvey didn't make a gazillion dollars from his genius creation. Nope, not even close. In fact, he only earned 45 bucks for making the world a happier place. That's like getting a high-five for building a castle!

Sadly Harvey never bothered to trademark his smiley face. It's like he said, "Hey world, take this smile and spread it around. No need to pay me extra!"  So, next time you see that iconic smiley face, remember Harvey Ross Ball. He may not have been a millionaire, but he left his mark on the world, one smile at a time.
