Hello!
It's time for the second part of our Hidden Gems around Romania series: Corvin Castle in Transylvania.
Corvin Castle is more than just a Gothic-style castle in Romania; it's a fortress built in the mid-14th century that whispers tales of knights and royalty. It's also one of my favorite castles in Romania, closely followed by Peles Castle.
How to get to Corvin Castle
by air ✈️
The nearest major airport to Hunedoara is the Traian Vuia International Airport in Timisoara. From there, you can take a taxi, train, or bus to Hunedoara.

There are several train options connecting Hunedoara to the rest of the country. You can take a train from major cities like Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, or Timisoara to the Hunedoara train station. From the station, you can get a taxi or take a local bus to Corvin Castle.
by bus:
Several bus companies operate routes to Hunedoara from various cities in Romania. The Hunedoara bus station is centrally located, and from there, you can take a taxi or a local bus to the castle.
What to do
You can book tickets to visit the castle on the official website and at the entrance. The student ticket is only 2 euros, so make sure to have your student card with you. You also have the possibility of booking a guided tour. The guides can provide historical context, local legends, and architectural insights that will enhance your experience at the castle.
Don't skip The Knights' Hall, one of the most impressive rooms in the castle. The Castle Museum is also very interesting, as it displays medieval weapons and artifacts from that time.
As you exit the castle, don't miss the surroundings and the park, where you can have a picnic with a great view.
It's your turn! Tell us about a hidden gem in your country that anyone should visit ☀️
