Hi, delightful community!
Scrolling through the English forums and the blog, you will find a lot of learning material, fun discussion topics, and in-depth articles.
But what you may not know very well is the writer behind it all. Me! Iya! So, I thought I’d take a moment to officially introduce myself to you.
Here goes:
I am originally from the United States but spent a good portion of my life travelling, volunteering, and exploring various countries. A few of my favorite experiences have been in Guatemala, Jamaica, Haiti, England, Germany, Canada, and Ireland.
In recent years, I’ve devoted a good portion of my time to learning about how to be a good steward of the earth by caring for local ecosystems and understanding the various types of biodiversity the earth sustains. In fact, I’m currently knee-deep in exploring the fascinating world of soils! That’s right, soils! I had no idea how different they can be and also how absolutely essential healthy soils are for all life. Do we have any soil scientists or other enthusiasts among us? Farmers? If so, join the conversation!
Hmm… what else can I share? Oh! Art, of course! How could I forget? Haha! From theatre to dance to great literature to painting and sculpture; I find I am simply a lover of the arts. My favorite painter is Van Gogh, but one of my favorite paintings of all time is not from him, but from Henry Ossawa Tanner called, The Banjo Lesson. Who are your favorite artists? Do you make art? What kind?
I can’t help it! Even though I am supposed to write about myself, I am so curious about you! Hahaha!
So, I’ll end here for now and await your replies: introduce yourself to me! And if you’ve already introduced yourself a bit in my other discussion topics, don’t worry about doing so again here. Consider yourselves like happy buzzing bees pollinating a bunch of colorful flowers. :D
Curiously yours,
Iya, OLS Community Manager – English
