Hi, friends!
Since the temperatures dropped considerably in Romania over the past few weeks, I thought I'd give you some insights into skiing in Romania.
Just imagine yourself gliding down slopes surrounded by the breathtaking Carpathian Mountains! Although I am not a winter sports enthusiast myself, I know for a fact that skiing in Romania is an adventure you cannot miss. Here are the best places to go and some helpful tips!
1. Poiana Brasov
For a ski lover's paradise, head to Poiana Brasov. It's got slopes for all levels, from newbies to pros. Plus, the resort has all the modern comforts and a lively après-ski scene. It's like hitting the slopes in style!
2. Sinaia
Imagine skiing with a fairy-tale castle (Peles castle, which you can read all about in this blog post) as your backdrop! With slopes catering to different skill levels, Sinaia is perfect for a mix of adventure and sightseeing.
3. Azuga
With 8 slopes of different levels available, Azuga is an ideal spot for beginners and pros. The longest ski run in Romania, named Sorica, is in Azuga.
4. Poiana Mărului
Looking for a quieter vibe? Poiana Mărului is your spot. Tucked away in Caraş-Severin, it's a hidden gem, perfect for a peaceful ski getaway.
Helpful tips
- Get your ski gear
Romania can get chilly, so layer up and have some waterproof gear. You'll thank yourself for staying warm and dry while enjoying the snow. If you don't want to splurge, there are lots of social media groups selling second-hand equipment and clothes!
- Wonder around
Take a breather from skiing to explore medieval castles, monasteries, and charming villages. For some more inspo, I invite you to read this post about The rural life and most beautiful villages in Romania.
- Skiing 101
If you're new to skiing, no worries! Grab some lessons to get the hang of it. Most resorts have lessons for all skill levels, ensuring you have a blast on the slopes.
Romania isn't just about skiing; it's a winter wonderland waiting to be explored. Are you a winter sports enthusiast? What do you enjoy most? Let me know in the comments!
