World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated annually on April 23rd. This day was proclaimed at the 28th General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1995.
The purpose of this day is to encourage reading and promote the protection of copyright. It also highlights the importance of books as a fundamental element of education and the progress of society.
Do you know which city is the World Book Capital this year?
UNESCO designated Strasbourg as the World Book Capital in 2024. Cities designated as UNESCO World Book Capitals commit to promoting books and reading for all ages and groups, both within and beyond national borders, and organizing a program of activities for the year.
