What’s Common Between Latvia And Star Wars?
This is easy - both of them have celebrations in one day. On May 4th Latvia is celebrating the Day of the Restoration of Latvian Independence. Yes, yes Latvians do have their Independence Day on the 18th of November when we celebrate the first establishment of the Independent Republic of Latvia in 1918, and then the restoration of the independence in 1990 - May 4th. And Star Wars is also celebrating May 4th. Why, you might ask, well here's a quick wordplay for you - "May the fourth be with you"! This wordplay with one of the most famous Jedi quotes “May the Force be with you," makes May 4th also the Star Wars day!
May 4th is a National holiday in Latvia, or as this year the weekend stretches and the following Monday is a bank holiday if the celebration is on a weekend day. Enjoy the long weekend and don’t knock on the University doors the upcoming Monday.And of course - May the fourth be with you!
