Ahoj komunito,

od roku 2001 oslavuje Evropská komise a Rada Evropy Evropský den jazyků (EDJ) dne 26. září.

Cílem této události je zvýšit povědomí o jazykové rozmanitosti Evropy, prosazovat kulturní dědictví, podporovat výuku jazyků a propagovat překlad, tlumočení a další profese spojené s jazyky.

Vícejazyčnost je jedním ze základních principů Evropské unie (EU) a klíčovým prvkem evropské kulturní identity. EU má sama o sobě 24 úředních jazyků a odhaduje se, že po celém kontinentu se mluví více než 225 původními jazyky.

Pěstování znalostí evropských jazyků pomáhá rozvíjet úspěšné spojení mezi různými jazykovými skupinami, podporuje mezikulturní porozumění a přispívá k vytváření tolerantnějších a empatičtějších společností. Navíc, mluvení několika jazyky zvyšuje vaše šance zahájit kariéru v jiné zemi EU. Nezní to lákavě?

V OLS máte příležitost právě toho dosáhnout díky přístupu ke kurzům a materiálům k výuce až 29 evropských jazyků! V průběhu září a října Evropská unie organizuje řadu akcí, kterých se můžete zúčastnit. Podívejte se na seznam aktivit ZDE a připojte se k oslavám EDJ 2024!

Co se děje v den EDJ v České republice? Jako každý rok se v tento den na různých místech pořádají akce věnované jazykům a češtině zejména. Pro více informací klikněte zde.

Hello community! 

Since 2001, the European Commission and the Council of Europe have celebrated the European Day of Languages (EDL) on September 26. 

This observance aims to raise awareness of Europe's linguistic diversity, advocate for cultural heritage and linguistic diversity, encourage language learning, and promote translation, interpretation, and other language-related professions. 

Multilingualism is one of the founding principles of the European Union (EU) and a key element of Europe's cultural identity. The EU alone has 24 official languages, and it is estimated that more than 225 indigenous languages are spoken across the continent.  

Nurturing knowledge of European languages helps develop successful connections between different linguistic groups, promotes intercultural understanding, and fosters more tolerant and empathetic societies. Additionally, speaking multiple languages increases your chances of starting a career in another EU country. Isn’t that appealing? 

At OLS, you have the opportunity to do just that by accessing courses and materials to learn up to 29 European languages! Throughout September and October, the European Union has organised numerous events for you to participate in. Check out the list of activities HERE to see what is happening around you and join the EDL 2024 celebrations! 

What is going on in the Czech Republic? For example, European Day of Languages at Kampus Hybernská: An all-day language festival held to mark the European Day of Languages and offering a varied programme consisting of workshops, presentations, mini-lessons for individuals and groups, reading sessions, a language-themed escape game and a language-themed quiz. It includes a speaking dating session for schoolchildren in the morning (9-12), a speaking dating session for the public (15-18) and a language-themed pub quiz (19-22). The festival will also include information stands on Europass and Erasmus+ on 26 Sep 2024. For other info click here.
