Meeting New Friends

In Ireland, first introductions are important moments for connection. When meeting someone new, we begin with "Dia duit" (hello), followed by "Is mise..." (I am...). We might then ask "Conas atá tú?" (How are you?) or "Cad as duit?" (Where are you from?). These simple phrases help us build our first conversations in Irish, creating a foundation for friendship and learning.

Exercise: Introduce yourself to our community using these phrases. Try to include:

  • Your greeting (Dia duit)
  • Your name (Is mise...)
  • Where you're from (Is as... mé)
  • How you are feeling today (Tá mé...)
