The Colours of An Fómhar (Autumn)

Autumn in Ireland transforms the landscape into a canvas of warm colors. The Irish language has beautiful words for these seasonal shades: "dearg" for red, "órga" for golden, and "donn" for brown. When leaves fall from the trees (crainn), they create a magnificent display called "duilleoga an fhómhair" (autumn leaves). Understanding these color words helps us describe the world around us in Irish.

Exercise: Look outside your window or take a walk. Share:

  • Three colors you can see (using Irish color words)
  • One simple sentence about a tree or plant
  • The weather today using "Tá sé..." (It is...)
