Hi all!
Have you seen all the language communities OLS Forums have to offer?
Europe is home to 29 distinct language communities that reflect rich histories, cultures, and traditions. From the romance of the Romance languages like Italian, Spanish, and French, to the precise logic of the Germanic languages such as German, English, and Dutch, each language carries the essence of its speakers. In the east, the Slavic languages like Russian, Polish, and Czech resonate with ancient folklore and modern innovation, while the Celtic tongues of Irish, Welsh, and Scottish Gaelic echo tales of mythical pasts. Europe’s diversity includes smaller yet vibrant communities, such as Basque, a language isolate with no known relatives, and Maltese, the only Semitic language written in Latin script.
The Nordic languages, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Faroese and Sami, remind us of the Vikings, while Greek, one of the oldest documented languages carry us from the ancient worlds to the modern times. Each of these languages is a window into unique ways of thinking and living.
