Hello Everyone
The Spring Equinox (for those of us in Central European Time) marks the official arrival of longer days and shorter nights!
On March 20th (yesterday), day and night will be nearly equal in length, a reminder of balance and renewal. In many cultures, the equinox is celebrated as a time of new beginnings, growth, and light—a perfect moment to reflect on fresh starts, whether in language learning, personal goals, or simply enjoying the beauty of spring.
In Denmark, the changing of the seasons has long been significant. Ancient Nordic cultures, including the Vikings, celebrated seasonal shifts with rituals honoring nature, fertility, and the return of light. The equinox was a time to mark the transition from winter’s hardships to the promise of growth and abundance. Even today, Danes embrace this seasonal change by enjoying forårssol (spring sun), watching early blooms like vintergækker (snowdrops), and celebrating lighter days with hygge-filled gatherings outdoors.
